Where do you source your ingredients from?
Bumbles™ uses only the freshest, locally grown South African produce with ingredients which are of infant grade, which means we ensure no harmful pesticides. Our experienced experts keep a watchful eye to ensure that we have none of the affected products in our supply chain. Over and above our already stringent health and safety standards, we carry out checks to make sure that the Bumbles™ Baby Food range is always safe and nutritious.
With Bumbles™ you have peace of mind knowing that your baby is being fed only the best quality.
Are herbs and spices safe for my baby?
Spices have been added to baby food in different countries for generations. We thoroughly research the attributes of the herbs and spices in our baby food and work closely with leading paediatrics and nutrition experts, throughout our product development.
Bumbles™ loves to use healthy herbs and super spices. Not only do they support and boost the immune system but they enhance the flavour of the food for baby which encourages your budding little eater to love healthy food.
Are purees pasteurized?
Our pouch products are either pasteurized or thermally processed to ensure product safety and shelf stability.
What is the ratio of fruit to vegetables in your baby food?
Each one of our variants are especially designed to offer a nutritionally balanced meal as well as wonderful flavours. To make it easy and clear for our moms to understand we have designed a simple ingredient wheel with the exact make-up of each recipe, which we hope you will love as much as we do. We recommend incorporating local, seasonal varieties of vegetables and fruit as soon as baby moves onto more textured meals.
Where are your products manufactured?
Bumbles™ is manufactured in Cape Town at an Accredited ISO2200 facility and led by a full team of experts.
Are your pouches recyclable?
This matter is very important to us, we have used recycled locally produced cardboard for our sleeves and our anti-choke baby caps are all recyclable. We have been investigating and researching into the recyclability of our pouches and we can confirm that there has been a breakthrough. We are still working closely with our suppliers to give us more information on this and will be up-dating you on this very soon. The pouch however, does leave a smaller environmental footprint than the glass baby food jar, due the amount of packaging per gram of food is almost 11 times smaller for the pouch as compared to the glass jar.
We are always actively searching for alternative earth-friendly materials that can be used for food-grade products.
How do I know if I have a defective pouch?
Our pouches have a tamper evident seal that clicks during opening, keeping the product fresh. Our food is cooked in the pouch and we utilize a specific blend of ingredients and balanced acidity levels to ensure product safety, however, in rare instances a pouch may become compromised. Be sure to always check that the pouch is not leaking or bloated before giving it to a child, bloating signifies an air leakage which results in a quality issue. If you notice that the pouch packaging has been compromised in any way, such as a bloating, or a tear or puncture, we do not advise or recommend that you feed the product to your little one.
How should I serve and store the baby food pouches?
Bumbles™ pouches can be served at room temperature, slightly chilled, or warmed in a bowl of hot water. DO NOT microwave pouch. To serve, simply twist off the cap and let your little one feed directly from the spout, or squeeze into a bowl or onto a spoon for your little one to enjoy. Bumbles™ can be stored in your cupboard until ready for use. Refrigeration is required upon opening and we recommend the meal should be consumed within 24 hours for best quality and taste.
Can I travel with your pouches?
Bumbles™ pouches are designed to withstand a normal pressurized airplane environment and are indeed safe for air travel. In fact, one of the things that our customers love so much about our pouches is that they are so convenient and easy to travel with.
If you’re still concerned, it won’t hurt to put the pouches in a zip-lock bag. The Airports Company South Africa [ACSA] does allow baby food to pass through the security checkpoint, as long as you inform the Security Officer that you are carrying baby food at the beginning of the screening process. Baby food products may be subjected to additional screening that could include being asked to open the container.
What is the shelf life of your pouches?
Bumbles™ offers a 12 month shelf-life. We don’t guarantee the product’s freshness past the “best by” date. Always check your pouch for the most up-to-date product information.
